Café Matisse, on Park Avenue in Rutherford, NJ, is situated in a historic building that was originally a horse and buggy firehouse. This restaurant has evolved to its current design with 45 seats in a Henri Matisse inspired dining room, and an enchanting European Garden patio providing an additional 25 seats for seasonal al fresco dining. A recent interior expansion of the front room added new dining accommodations for parties up to 30 people in time for summer.
A simply magical space, Café Matisse’s colorful impressionist-style paintings and chandeliers create a playful, inviting atmosphere of simple elegance. The European style garden also adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the dining experience.
